THE Seale FAMILY
William Seale was in the province by 1651 when he was granted administration of the property of William Blass, late of this county in the right of Sarah, his wife, the late widow of William Blass, deceased (Patent 1:300). Roger Seale witnessed the will of Richard Moy on 2/19/1670 (2:371). Either of these two Seales could have been the ancestor of Jonathan Seale (1). However, no record was found to prove this.
On 12/19/1706, 205 acres of "Chance" was surveyed for Jonathan Seale (1) near "Howard's Mount". Jonathan Seale married Mary Ford, the daughter of Robert Ford and Mary Clarke. Jonathan Seale was deceased by 4/10/1711 when his estate was appraised, valued at £46.16.00. His creditor and next of kin were his brothers-in-law Robert Ford and John Ford (Inv. 32B:149). Mary, the widow of Jonathan Seale, married secondly John Drury.
Jonathan Seale had at least one son, also named Jonathan Seale, who obtained possession of the tract "Chance".
