Immigration
George Shoemaker, who was married in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1662, died at sea while on his way to this country with his wife and family. His widow, Sarah, and their eight children, arrived at Philadelphia, January 2CV 1686, and soon afterward purchased two hundred acres of land in Cheltenham township, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, on the York road, the place now being called Ogontz.
