By codicil dated 12th Mch., 1677, testator makes the followingprovisions: Should eld. sons, viz., James, Samuel, and John, die withoutissue, survivor or survivors of sd. 3 sons to inherit deceased's land;and in event of death of any of young. child., viz., Alexander,Nathaniel, and Eliza:, without issue, survivor or survivors to inheritdeceased's land. Should all afsd. eld. child. die without issue, theirland to pass to young. child. afsd. Should young. child. die withouthrs., their land to pass to eld. child. and hrs.

The 16 Feb 1677 and 14 Sep 1677 inventory of Alexander Magruder's goodsand chattels show he made a comfortable living for his time and place,totaling 48,776 pounds. The items included 3 bibles, silver, brass,copper, pewter, chafing dish, 16 cows, steers, bulls, horses, feather andflock beds, pillows, bedsteads, tables, 12 Russian leather chairs, 3chairs and 12 stools, looking glass, 5 tablecloths, 2 pair cotton sheets,rugs, a sealskin trunk, desk, warming pan, nails, 3 guns, a Negro mannamed Lamb, and 4 servants (2 men and 2 women) with from 1 to 7 years toserve (Inv. & Accts. #4, f. 606).
