Merebah (or Meribah) and Benjamin both died of typhoid fever in Maryland, Otsego County, New York, according to the 1870 census which listed those persons who had died in the epidemic of 1869. Merebah Sisson Gurney is buried in Crumhorn Mountain Cemetery, Maryland, Otsego County, New York, with her husband Benjamin Gurney and their sons Cook, John, Isaac, Hiram, and David.
