Jonathan Jarrett (grandfather) was a practical and successful farmer ofBucks county, Pennsylvania, and a member of the Society of Friends, taking anactive interest in its work and enjoying the respect of the entire community.He prospered in worldly matters also, and was able at his death to provide afarm for each of his children. In politics he was a Whig, but he was never anaspirant for public position of any kind.
