Anna Gideon was born on June 3, 1853 in Illinois. Her parents, Armstead and Lavina (Martin) Gideon, were natives of Ohio. The family consisted of three children, Anna, Alice and George. An un-named girl died in infancy. When Anna Gideon was about three years of age her parents moved to Iowa where they remained about six years when they removed to Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Anna Gideon married for her first husband Tom Hoffman the son of John C. and Mary Hoffman, pioneer residents of Ashley township. The Sauk Centre Herald for June 27, 1946records the death of Mrs. Anna Richardson, 93, mother of Mrs. Mae Evans. The Certificate of Death for Anna Richardson, however, really confirmed the identity of Anna Richardson. She was born on June 3, 1853 at Clinton, Illinois, the daughter of Armstead M. Gideon and Levina Martin. She died on June 26, 1946 at the age of 93 years, 23 days at Fergus Falls State Hospital, Fergus Falls, Minnesota and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Her death certificate shows that she was a widow at the time of her death on June 26, 1946.
