Joseph POTTS was born in May 1733 in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was baptized on Jul 9 1734 in Christ Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While it is not proven, it is althogether probable that he is the same who married Miriam Kelley, July 25, 1765, at St. Pauls (P.E.) Church. He was a seaman, and in 1764 was Captain of the Slow Johnson, 80 tons; and of the Sloop King George, in 1766. He died in 1770, and in his will mentions " my loving mother," "my brother William," and 'my loving wife Meriam," His will is recorded at Philadelphia, in Will-Book O, page 197. Miriam (Kelly) Potts was born 1740, and died 6 mo. 20, 1774. By her will, she made bequests to the Pennsylvania Hospital, to the Home of Employment, to Ann Potts her mother-in-law, to her mother Elizabeth Green, to her brother John Green, and to several others whose kinship is not mentioned. Neither husband nor wife mention any children.

He was married to Miriam KELLY on Jul 25 1765 in St. Pauls Espicopal Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Miriam KELLY was born in 1740. She died 6 mo. 20, 1774. By her will, she made bequests to the Pennsylvania Hospital, to the Home of Employment, to Ann Potts her mother-in-law, to her mother Elizabeth Green, to her half brother John Green, and to several others whose kinship is not mentioned. Netiher Husband nor wife mention any children.
