Individual Details
James Doolittle
(7 Feb 1735 - 1783)
He and his father attended St. John's Anglican Church, in Watertown, Ct. They had to pay double toward religious support, as all tax payers had to support the established Congregationalist Church. The Fist movement to establish an Episcopal parish in Westbury was lead by James and Thomas Doolittle along with 18 others. They met in James' home during the winter months. He sided with the Crown during the Revolution and escaped to Canada. His properties were confiscated. He was killed during the war. His wives and the dates of his children are not clear and some logic is necessary to fit all the pieces together.
