Event
Peleg moved to Chateaugay in 1797. His property was the location ofFort Hickory, during the War of 1812. Douglass and his son Nathanpurchased the property in 1803. Peleg Douglass was also a courier forGates Hoit when Chateaugay Four Corners was raided Feb. 20, 1814.Hisson Augustus was also a courier but was caught by the British on hisway to Plattsburg. Enter the Father, Peleg, then 63 years old Rev.soldier who went throught the woods to Plattsburg without gettingcaught and was able to get the necessary reinforcements.
