James Ensign, ancestor immigrant, was made a freeman March 4, 1634, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Removed with Rev. Thomas Hooker's party to Hartford, where he was a prominent citizen and one of the organizers of the church.
Death
He was an early land owner in Hartford before 1663, cooper by trade, member of the jury, overseer, and left an estate of 729 pounds two shillings nine pence.
