James and Anna are mentioned in the will of Susan E. Woodman dated 1821

Event

On November 27, 1823 James and Anna signed a quit-claim to his father Richard for eight acres "adjoining Peleg's land" in Portsmouth, valued at $300.

Death

He died intestate, his widow and sons Richard and George administered the estate allotting Anna $300. Anna wrote her will April 17, 1861, proved August 10, 1885, in Portsmouth, giving most of her estate to daughter Philadelphia, who had died in May 1885. Family members divided the estate by deed. In the 1880 census for Portsmouth, James' children Susan, Philadelphia, James, and James' three sons are living in Susan's home, probably originally the home of George (2) Sisson, son of Richard and Mary.
