1775, April 3: The Last Will and Testament of Daniel Roberts:In the name of God, Amen. This third day of April Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Seventy five, I Daniel Robbards of Middletown in the county of Hartford and Colony of Connecticut in New England in America. Being at present of a sound disposing mind and memory, honoring the goodness of God and thinking it to be my duty to Set my House in Order and to Dispose of the Temporal Interest that God has Blessed me with in the world in the following Manner and Form. And I do ordain and make this my last Will and Testament, And do in the first Place and Will my Spirit to the God that gave it through Jesus Christ my only Lord and Savior and after my death my body to a decent Christian Burial and after mu just debts and financial charges are paid out of my Estate, my Will is Impinimis . . . I give and Bequeth to my son John Robbarts Six Acres of land lying on the North side of my House Lott which is to be the whole width of my lott from the East to West and so wide North and South as to Contain the Six Acres and the South Half of my dwelling house and the North half of the barn standing on my Home Lott and also Four Acres lying on the South side of my said Home Lott running from the highway to the East end of my said Lott in equal Width so to make said four acres of Land. . . Item : I give and Bequeth to my son Elisha Robbarts Four Acres of Land in my Home Lott to lie on the South side of the Above Six Acres I have given to my son John Robberts and said Four Acres is to lie in equal width from the highway to the East end of my said Home Lott and also. Item: I give and Bequeth to my son Recompence Robbarts Three Acres of Land in my Home Lott to lie on the North side of the Above Four Acres that I have given to Son John Robberts and Three Acres is to lie in equal width from the highway to the East end of my sid Home Lott. Item: I give and Bequeth to my daughter Lucy the present Wife of Charles Banns of said Middletown all my Household Goods that I shall leave at my Decease to her hers . . . And the remaining Three Acres in my Said Home Lott that I have not above disposed of my Will is that after my Just Debts and financial charges are paid out of the Same the remainder shall be divided equally amongst my sons Daniel Robbarts, Recompense Robbarts, Elisha Robbarts and John Robbarts. And here by Nominate, Candidate and Appoint my son John Robbarts to be the Sole Executor to this my last Will and Testament; here by Ratifying, Allowing and Confirming this and no other to be last Will and Testimony.
