Death

BROOKFIELD - John H. Furr, 57, of Brookfield, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. He was born Nov. 25, 1952, in Baltimore, the son of Madeline (Dawson) and the Rev. James Furr. Mr. Furr was a 1970 graduate of Maplewood High School and was a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 18, 1972, he married Linda J. Kirshke. He retired from Sajar Manufacturing of Middlefield after many years of service. Mr. Furr enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, and was a very loving father, husband, brother and grandfather, and will be missed by many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda J. Furr; two brothers, Alfred and James Furr; and his sister, Mary Furr. Survivors include two daughters, Jeannine (Robert) Brooks of Collierville, Tenn., and Tamara (Bill) Furr of Leavittsburg; a son, James Wesley Furr of Champion; his second wife, Bertha Marie Furr of Brookfield, and her niece, Melissa and Gene Sherman, and their daughter, Kayla-Lynn; five sisters, Alberta (John) Fitch of Kinsman, Sandy (Larry) Campbell of Dallas, Velva Umphreys of Cortland, Ivy VanGorder of Champion and Edna (Mike) Richards of Cortland; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman. Burial will follow in Johnston Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
