Death
Woodrow (Woody) Snelson Jr., of Crofton, Maryland passed away on February 8, 2022 at the age of 83. Woody was born to the late Katherine Cover Snelson and Woodrow Snelson Sr. on October 24, 1938 in Elkins, West Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1960 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and began working for the Department of Defense soon after, where he served for over 35 years. During the Fall of 2002, he was the first person in the United States to go home with the Jarvik 2000 heart pump while he waited for a heart donor match. He was later blessed to receive a heart transplant in March 2003 which gave him almost 19 more years to live and spend time with his family. Woody is survived by daughters Erika Cadori and Kathryn Marsh, their spouses Mario Cadori and James Marsh, and grand-daughters Francesca and Cathryn Cadori. Woody enjoyed listening to classical music, baking and cooking for his family, and was known to enjoy a good conspiracy theory.Endnotes
