Death
Charles E. Furr was killed in the Purdue train wreck, a railroad train collision in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 31, 1903, that killed 17 people, including 14 players on the Purdue University football team.A photo in the Indianapolis Journal, November 1, 1903, shows him as Walter Furr, and another place lists him Walter Furr, Galveston, Texas. The same article also shows, "CHARLES E. FURR, aged twenty-eight, resided at Veedersburg, Ind. He was a junior in civil engineering. Furr was on the scrub team last year, making the varsity this year."
