Death

Mrs. Mary Jane Furr, 62, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Friday, March 3, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Walter William "Jake" Furr, whom she married April 21, 1995. Born July 8, 1945 in Fairfax, Va., she was a daughter of the late Marvin Estle and Zelma Lucille Fletcher Repass. She grew up in Gaithersburg and was a longtime waitress for over 20 years. Mrs. Furr enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed sewing. Surviving besides her beloved husband at home, are three sons, Stanley W. Munday Jr. and wife, Cathleen of Frederick, David E. Munday of Mount Olive, W.Va., and Richard W. Munday of Mount Airy; three sisters, Peggy A. Vallery of Tucson, Ariz; Shirley L. Klepp and husband, John of Boonsboro, and Nancy J. Howard of LaPlata; three grandchildren Hunter W. Munday of Myersville, Jennifer M. Munday of Frederick, and Richard W. Munday Jr. of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and her many special friends also survive. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes, P.A. 615 East Main Street, Thurmont. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Tuesday, March 11, Mrs. Furr will be removed to St. John the Evangelist Luthern Church 15 North Church St. Thurmont, where she will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time services will begin. The Rev. K. Craig Moorman will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Furr to any cancer foundation of your choosing.
