Death
Lester “Bud” Warner, 91, of The Villages, Florida, died Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born June 24, 1926, in Teter, a son of the late Raymond and Hattie Furr Warner. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy Phillips Dye. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond Warner Jr. of Ohio; three stepchildren, Ruth Dye of Fairmont Jack Dye of Raleigh, North Carolina, and John Dye of The Villages, Florida; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Warner Vandervort; stepdaughter, Kathryn Dye Findle; two brothers, Richard and William Warner; and two sisters, Katherine Warner Crites and Juanita Warner Bennett. Mr. Warner served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in China. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 in Buckhannon and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 347 in Florida. Mr. Warner was a magistrate of Upshur County, a former member of the Buckhannon Lions Club and a Methodist by faith. He was a resident of Silver Lake in The Villages for 28 years where he served as a charter member and past president of the West Virginia Club. Mr. Warner and his wife, Dotty, loved traveling across the U.S., and Canada in his motorhome. He was also active in forming several country bands, and he loved to entertain. Friends will be received for a Memorial Gathering Friday, July 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.
