Death
Nancy Burns Furr, 72, of Waynesboro, passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fishersville with her loving family at her side. She was born May 12, 1939 in Staunton to the late William Ray Burns and the late Stella Waybright Burns. Nancy was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and enjoyed putting puzzles together. The family would like to offer very special thanks to the Staff at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation, to Dr. David Chernoff and to Hospice of the Piedmont for their loving care. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles L. Jones and her second husband, Raymond Furr; her son, Charles Jones, Jr. and her sister, Judy Tomlin. She is survived by her children, Barbara Flynn of Waynesboro, Gary L. Jones and his friend, Laurie of Craigsville, Betty Woolridge and her friend, Ed Lam of Waynesboro and Kenneth Furr and his fiancé, Dale Martin of Waynesboro; her grandchildren, Crystal Flynn, Nicole Scott and her husband, Mike, Rusty Woolridge and his girlfriend, Eden, Ricky Woolridge and his girlfriend, Whitney, Michael Woolridge and his girlfriend, Lisa, Cassie Furr and Becky Furr; her great-grandchildren, Sharon and Samantha Johnson, Sean, Natalie and Madelyn Scott, and Makayla, Chloe, Rieley and Brenton Woolridge; her sisters, Josephine Hartigan of Staunton, Mae and Billy Eppard of Gloucester Point, Mary and James Simmons of Greenville, Bonnie and Carroll Burnette of Waynesboro and Brenda and Steve Dinges of Waynesboro; her brother-in-law, Julian Tomlin of Waynesboro; her long-time companion, her dog, Toby; and a special friend, Dale. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Monday, October 10, 2011 at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 961 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville and at other times at her daughter Barbara’s home, 1266 N. Delphine Ave., Waynesboro. At Nancy’s request, the family will have a private burial. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.Endnotes
