KIMBERLING CITY, Mo. — Leota Ioma Cook, 75, of Kimberling City, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009, in a Springfield, Mo., hospital. She was born November 3, 1933, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Crystal and Lawrence Hollowell. She attended Benton High School. She was a Homemaker. She loved to sew, cook, and go shopping. At Moila she was known as “Lady Leota;” she was also a Methodist. Leota was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kenneth Furr; second husband, Bill Cook; step son, Billy Cook Jr. Survivors include her companion of the home, Billie French of Kimberling City; four sons: Kenneth Furr and wife, Nancy, of St. Joseph; Ronnie Furr and wife, Carol, of DeKalb, Mo.; Larry Furr and wife, Janie; and Darren Furr and wife, Jackie, both of St. Joseph; two daughters: Patty McIntosh and husband, John, of St. Joseph; and Annette Furr of Maryville, Mo.; a step daughter, Tami Cook of St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Norma Foster of Compton, Ill.; and Alice James of St. Joseph. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
