Ronald B. Hinkle, 72, of Walnutport, died Monday, Sept. 23, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Barbara F. (Rice) Hinkle. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in February. He was a computer programmer for various companies, including the former Keystone Lamp Factory. In the 1970s, he was chief of police for the Walnutport Borough. Born in Walnutport, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Emma Rebecca C. (Knappenberger) Hinkle. He was a member of Christ UCC, Walnutport, and the Slatington Skeet Club. Surviving in addition to his widow are four daughters, Janet, wife of Ray Fritz of Macungie, Brenda, wife of Bruce Richards, and Gail, wife of Steven Hoffert, both of Palmerton, and Samantha Hinkle of Walnutport; six grandchildren, Ray Jr., Ryan, and his wife, Debbie, Emily, Steven II, Madelyn and Randy, and his wife, Carol; three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Luke and Hannah; a sister, Joan Serfass; and a brother Charles. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, David and Robert. Service: Memorial service in celebration of his life 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, Christ UCC, Walnutport. Call 6-7 p.m. Friday in the church. Arrangements by Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Main St., Slatington.
