Death
Hunter Edward Rose, 77, of Middleburg, passed away at home Aug. 22, 2013. Hunter was born June 28, 1936, in Loudoun County to Mary and Frank Rose. He was the third eldest of nine children. Mr. Rose attended Marshall High School in Marshall. There he met his high school sweetheart, Patsy, in 1954. They married Jan. 27, 1957. Mr. Rose was a printer by trade for more than 45 years, working in Arlington, Chantilly and Manassas. He opened The Print Shop of Virginia in Marshall in 1988 and operated until his retirement. He was a member of the Fauquier Host Lions Club and held various offices, including secretary, vice president and President. He received lifetime membership in the Lions Club n 2009 and many other awards. He was an avid fan of the Washington Nationals, and the Washington Redskins. Mr. Rose was the biggest fan of his children and grandchildren's sports. He cheered them on at volleyball games, band concerts and baseball and softball games. He was considered a “Gentle Giant,” with a sharp sense of humor and large heart. He will be missed dearly by his friends, family and community. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Jane Rose of Middleburg; a son, Barry Rose and wife Susan of Middleburg; a daughter Kelly Haase and husband Steve of Kalamazoo, Mich.; his grandchildren, Jason Rose, Josh Rose, Ashby Malpass, Reilly Malpass and Emily Malpass; a great grandson, Hunter Rose, and step granddaughter, Anna Smallwood. He also was a new step grandfather to Aubrey Haase, Cameron Haase, Drake Haase, Ellie Haase and Fletcher Haase. He is also survived by his brothers, Dan Rose and wife Eleanor of Winchester, Charles and wife Judy of Luray, Bill Rose and wife Linda of Winchester, and his sisters, Joyce Hulse of Luray and Mabel Smith and husband Robert Diehl of Front Royal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Rose; a sister, Maxine Anderson; a brother, Robert Rose; a son, Garry L Rose, and an infant son, Larry Rose. A graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Fauquier Host Lions Club, P.O. Box 643, Marshall, Va. 20116 and/or Marshall United Methodist Church, Box 144, Marshall, Va. 20116. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Royston Funeral Home in Middleburg.Endnotes
