Death
Mary Louise Furr, 92, of Bridgewater, died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Avante at Harrisonburg. She was born in Rockingham County, on Nov. 24, 1917, and was a daughter of the late Douglas Newton and Pearl Alice (Jennings) Carter. Mrs. Furr was a member of the Summit Church of the Brethren. She was united in marriage May 3, 1952, to William Harold Furr, who preceded her in death May 27, 2000. Mary is survived by two sons, Roger K. Furr and wife, Peggy B., and Gary W. Furr and wife, Patricia, all of Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Wesley H. Furr, Clifton M. Furr, Jennifer L. Furr and Sarah J. Furr; and three great-grandchildren, Robert K. Furr, Caleb D. Furr and Mary E. Furr; and a half sister, Demaris Maples, of New Jersey. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Jennings Carter and Charles Bingley "CB" Carter. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Summit Church of the Brethren with Pastor David Nelson officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday at Summit Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 20, 2010, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater Rescue Squad, P.O.
