Death
John A. Moyers, 74, well known machinist of the Centerville section and a former employee of the city of Harrisonburg, died yesterday afternoon at 3:30 at his home at Centerville following an illness of five months. He had been in failing health for the past 18 months. Mr. Moyers was born and spent his entire life in the Centerville section where he was well known and held in esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. Besides his wife, who was Miss Fannie E. Cook, of Augusta county, he is survived by eight children, Mrs. W. H. Purr, of Timberville; W. P. Moyers, of Bridgewater; H. B. Moyers, of Dayton; Verton Moyers, of Bridgewater; Mrs. Robert T. Knott, of Mt. Solon; Mrs. Cleo M. Fox, of Mt. Crawford; Miss Lucille Moyers, at home and Wade F. Moyers, of Bridgewater; one sister, Mrs. Will Madison, of Staunton; three half-brothers, Harry and Ira Moyers, of Staunton and Minor Moyers of the west. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Pleasant Grove Church on the Valley Pike with friends meeting at the home at 2:30. Services will be conducted by Rev. C. W. Tinsman. Burial will be in a nearby cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Davie Huffer, George Knicely, George Higgins, Charles Dovel, Will Ritchie and Will Glick.
