Death
Irene Langford, 96, of Glenville, died Saturday, April 1, 2006 after an extended illness. She was born June 8, 1909 at Richwood, a daughter of Wise A. and Esta Furr Shiflet. She was married to the late Carry M. Langford on October 8, 1929. She was the oldest and last surviving member of her original family. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Woofter, of Glenville, a daughter-in-law, Lena M. Langford, of Huntington; five grandchildren - Sherry Jones and husband David of Burnsville; Kent Woofter of Greensboro, NC; Patricia Jordan and husband, Rick of Huntington; Beverly Jackson and husband, Rod of Barboursville; Barbara Albright and husband, Steve, of Ona. Also eight great-grandchildren, Chris Jones and wife, Amy; Casey Jones, LeeAnn and Brooke Jordan, Jonathan, Michelle, and Robbie Jackson, Tyler Albright, and two great-great- grandsons, Orrin and Elijah Jones. She leaves behind her loving and devoted caregivers, for whom the family will be eternally grateful. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Earl (Bill) Langford, a great-granddaughter, Samantha Albright, and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Hepzibah Baptist Church. She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, and quilting; she donated many items to her family and friends. Funeral Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville with the Rev. Hugh Murphy and Elder Mark Minney officiating. Burial followed in the Langford Cemetery, Rt 5 west of Glenville.Endnotes
