Death
James William "Jim" Kesner, 91, passed away June 11, 2010, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. A beloved husband, father, and man of faith, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Naomi Ruth Furr Kesner; his sons, James Robert Kesner and wife Fay, of Fairborn, Ohio, and John William Kesner and wife Rita, of Severna Park, Md.; his daughter, Naomi Joyce Adams, of Murfreesboro; and his five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A native of Indiana, he moved to Brookhaven in 1940 to work with Stahl-Urban Manufacturing Co., transferring to Shelbyville, Tenn., in 1957 as plant manager with Model Sportswear. Returning to Brookhaven in 1973, he completed his career with Stahl-Urban. He was a United States Navy veteran during World War II and a member of the Lions Club for 65 years. He helped organize the first Cub Scout troop for Brookhaven. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brookhaven and Shelbyville, serving each church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He enjoyed fishing and travel, being the tour director for over 65 trips for seniors. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville.Endnotes
