Death
Timothy Leo Furr passed away peacefully March 2, 2025, at the age of 61 after a 6 year battle with cancer. He was a native resident of Bird Island, MN. Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. To know Tim was to love him and you knew he lived life to the fullest and that life was about the memories made. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. One of his favorite places to spend time was in Spicer, boating and watching sunsets on Green Lake. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. Join the family at Max's Bar & Grill in Olivia immediately following the service. Bring your favorite Tim Furr joke or story to share. Visitation is Friday March 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Renville County Hospice. Tim was born on April 3, 1963 to Leo and Yvonne Furr in Olivia, MN. He went to school at St Mary’s in Bird Island through the 8th grade and then graduated High School at BI-LL in Bird Island in 1981. He attended Ridgewater College in Willmar where he received his Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. Tim continued his education in Information Technology and spent most of his career as Chief Information Officer at Ridgewater College. He then retired as Chief Information Officer from St. Cloud Technical College in 2023. He married Cindy Nelson on August 27th, 1983 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bird Island. They had many wonderful adventures in their 41 years of marriage; their greatest adventure was raising their three wonderful children. Tim was a long time member of the Bird Island Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Furr; his children: Angie and Steve Bizal, Bob and Cassie Furr and Matt Furr; grandchildren: Landon and Isaac Bizal, Emmett, Adler, Welles and Scottie Furr and Dominick Furr; mother, Yvonne Furr; sisters: Joni and Dale Thorpe, Cathi and Bob Fesenmaier and Michele Furr; and numerous cherished family members. Preceded in death by his father, Dr. Leo Furr, grandparents, along with his beloved aunts and uncles.Endnotes
