Death

Evelyn Faye Tenney Furr, 57, a resident of Frank, went to be with the Lord at 10:19 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 19, 1947, in Hemlock, a daughter of Lawrence and Lydia Currence Tenney of Mill Creek, who survive. On Oct. 1, 1972 at Mill Creek, she was married to Gwynne Gorden Furr, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Eric Gorden Furr, at home; one daughter, Lisa Dawn Bennett and husband, Ian, of Dunmore; two sisters, Cathy Gragg and husband, Bill, of Atwater, Ohio, and Carolyn Lewis and husband, Bob, of Mill Creek; and five brothers, Michael Tenney and wife, Kathy, of Elkins, David Tenney of Frank, Thomas Tenney and wife, Lisa, of Elkins, Steven Tenney and wife, Michelle, of Elkins and Christopher Tenney and wife, Mary, of Clarksburg. She was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1965 and was an employee of Howe’s Leather Co. for several years. She also worked as a caregiver for Pocahontas County Senior Citizens for the past 12 years and attended the Methodist Church of Blue Rock. She loved working outdoors in her flowers and vegetable gardens and made wreaths for family and friends. Faye was a loving wife and mother, a cherished daughter and beloved sister and aunt. She will remain forever in our hearts. Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday, she will be moved to the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. William “Wink” Lanham and the Rev. Tim Turner will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Randolph County Unit, 105 Wilson Lane, Elkins, W.Va. 26241.
