Death

Arthur “Art” Buchanan, 68, Cairo, WV, hung up his hammer and gardening trowel for the last time on May 24, 2021. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, son of the late Clairmont “Whitey” and Juanita Buchanan. Art was a 1971 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He retired after 35 years with Carpenters Local 899. He was a founding member of BuzzTrout Unlimited Local 69. Art enjoyed camping, trout fishing, gardening, and driving through the West Virginia mountains while listening to Bluegrass. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Becky, daughter, Amber Buchanan, son, Austin Buchanan, sister, Shirley (Terry) Hefner, brother, Tom (Linda) Buchanan. Two grandchildren Bryson Frazier and Leigha Buchanan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, sisters in law, Diane (Kim) McMichael, Sherry Murray, Terri Furr and Christina (Micah) Epps. In addition to his parents Art was preceded in death by brothers Ron and Timmy Buchanan and brother in law Herb Furr. Art graciously donated his body to WVU Medicine Health Sciences Center. A celebration of life for friends and family will be held at a later date. Special Thanks to Housecalls Hospice for the compassionate care Art received in the last few days of his life.
