Death
Fred B. Furr, 77, of Blackwell Street, Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2008, at his residence. He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Glenville, the only child of the late Fred F. and Oleva Burke Furr. He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Wood Furr whom he married April 18, 1957. Also surviving are two children, Donna Hanshew and her husband, Dennis, of St. Albans, and Kevin Furr and his wife, Pam, of Teays Valley, and four grandchildren, Cody and Sam Hanshew and Alexandrea and Delaney Furr. Fred served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later attended Glenville State College. He retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Company in 1991 as a division accountant after 35 years of service. He was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church and had previously been a Deacon. Fred loved being a part of his grandchildren's lives and was a great father and man of God. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins and Pastor Rick Garavaglia presiding. Interment will follow at the Stalnaker Cemetery in Glenville. Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport, is in charge of arrangements.Endnotes
