Death

MOUNT SOLON – Warren Lee Furr, 86, of Mount Solon, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at his home. He was born in Mount Solon July 12, 1929, and was a son of the late William Jennings “Brian” and Erma Irene (Daggy) Furr. Warren Lee worked for Metro, White Swan, Neilsen Construction and Pallet’s Plus prior to retiring in 1989. He had his own wood crafting business, enjoyed civil war history and was a T-ball coach. He was a member of Emmanuel Church of the Brethren. He had lived in Tennessee for 25 years. He was united in marriage to Maxine (Caracofe) Furr for 66 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Virginia Lee Smith and husband, Edward Lee, of Mount Solon, Mary Frances Casady, of Churchville and Debra Kaye Simmers of Harriman, Tennessee; two sons, William Leonard “Dubby” Furr and wife, Amy, of Alexandria and Darrel Wayne Furr and wife, Kimberly, of Harrisonburg; a granddaughter who was raised in the home, Kimberly Joy Simmers-Wismann and husband, Ted, of Mount Solon; a sister, Laura Mae Howard and husband, Allen, of Arlington. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carrie Irene Taulbee; and a grandson, Dewayne Smith. A funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, with Pastors Ryan Cooper and Jimmy Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Emmanuel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.
