Death
Arnold Furr, 72, of Shelbyville, was called home by the Lord at 1:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2005 in his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lynette DeAtley and Rev. Buzz Swett officiating. Visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Moulton Methodist Church in Shelbyville. Mr. Furr was born on March 1, 1933 in Shelbyville, the son of Roy E. and Carmel Clifton Furr. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1951. He worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville for 19 years and retired in 1993 from Bridgestone/Firestone in Decatur. He was a member of Moulton Methodist Church in Shelbyville and United Auto Workers Local 751 of Decatur. He loved his family, traveling and hunting mushrooms. He married Janine Hagan on May 27, 1955 and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Surviving are his wife, Janine; sons, Kendall Furr and wife Lori of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Todd Furr of Shelbyville; sisters, Bonnie Clark and husband Dick of Shelbyville and Nancy Orndorff of Washington, IL; sisters-in-law, Shirley Sloan and husband Bill of Mattoon and Loretta Werstlein of Albany, Oregon; and two granddaughters, Erin and Samantha Furr.
