Notes
Death
Rita Anne Eggert, nee Furr, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, surrounded by her family, at the age of 89 years. Rita was born on September 13, 1934, to Charles Everett and Loretta Marie (Carrigan) Furr, in Mankato, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm in Waseca, Minnesota, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1952. She attended The College of St. Catherine (now St. Catherine University), St. Paul, Minnesota, where she became a registered nurse. Upon graduation, she was employed by St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, Minnesota, in the labor and delivery room. Shortly after starting her career, she met the love of her life, Jack, and they spent 65 years working together as they built their family. Married in 1959 at Sacred Heart Church, Waseca, Minnesota, Rita and Jack welcomed eight children together. Rita was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Clover Bottom, Missouri, for more than 50 years. She was a founding member of the local Padre Pio prayer group and was active in The Society of St. Vincent DePaul. Through the years, Rita was active in her children's lives, volunteering as a Parish School of Religion teacher, a PTA member, and especially, a 4-H volunteer. She loved to sing and enjoyed participating in the church choir with her children and serving as the church organist for several years. She loved to cook and make bread, coffee cakes, and the family favorite, "Grandma's cinnamon rolls!" She made friends wherever she went and dedicated her later years to providing care for the elderly and sick around the neighborhood and in her church family. One of her favorite memories was donning her original nursing uniform once per year and introducing the kindergarteners at Beaufort Grade School to the medical field. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her stepmother, Emily (Boucher) Furr, her brothers, William, Leo, Robert, and Tom, and her sisters, Zita, Gertrude, Loretta, stepbrother Thomas Boucher and stepsister Eileen (Boucher) Kott. She is survived by her husband, Anthony John "Jack" Eggert, her brother Charles, her sisters Margaret, Ramona, Ann, and Laura, her step brother Leo Boucher, her step sister Mary (Boucher) Brixius, her children, Anthony John Eggert III (Kristen), New Haven, Mark Eggert (Julie Tang), Ithaca, New York, Barbara Eggert, New Haven, Thomas Eggert (Yvonne), St. Paul, Minnesota, Michael Eggert (Carrie), St. Paul, Minnesota, Catherine Kannenberg, Ballwin, Elizabeth Eggert-Guerrant (Scott Guerrant), Leslie, Maria Eggert, Chesterfield, 24 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, with two more due soon.
