Death
Martha Furr Budke 87, passed away in Jacksonville, FL on March 6, 2014. Born in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Russell and Ina Mae (Butcher) Furr Rodibaugh. She was raised on her great-grandparent's farm, John and Mary (Snyder) Furr that had been in the family since 1851. In 1944, she graduated from Pike Township HS, played saxophone in the school band and sang in the Sunrise Choir. In 1946, she graduated from Stephens College with a degree in Music, Voice and Piano. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority and Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was married to William Phelan Budke, Sr. and lived in St. Louis, MO for over 40 years. She sang for weddings and funerals and played piano. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Furr Moorman, Evansville, IN and a daughter, Allison Budke Weiland, Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by William Phelan Budke, Sr. (her husband of 66 years), and two sons, Louis Henry Budke III, William Phelan Budke, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn Kiel Budke. They retired to Jacksonville, FL 25 years ago and belonged to Deerwood Country Club and Holy Family Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held in Jacksonville, FL at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Final resting will be with her husband, Bill at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, MO this summer.
