Death
Arthur Howard Fitzgerald, 77, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, Henry Fitzgerald, Norfolk, after a long illness. Mr. Fitzgerald was born March 15, 1876, in Montebello, son of the late Landon and Sarah Jane Fitzgerald. He was a retired farmer and was formerly of Waynesboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Emma Frances Massie Fitzgerald, on Nov. 30, 1950. Survivors include four sons, Henry Fitzgerald, Norfolk; Leonard, Homer and Thomas E. Fitzgerald, all of Stuarts Draft; five daughters, Miss Clara W. Fitzgerald, Norfolk; Mrs. William (Sarah) Henderson, Lyndhurst; Mrs. Carl (Gwendolyn) Speck and Mrs. Odell (Hattie) Lucas, both of Waynesboro, and Mrs. P. C. (Mary Page) Furr, Fishersville; one sister, Mrs. Emmaline Massie, Mt. Hope, W. Va.; three brothers, John Fitzgerald, Norfolk; O. D. Fitzgerald, Route 1, Stuarts Draft; and Downey Fitzgerald, Waynesboro; 22 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home until 2 p.m. Thursday when it will be placed in the Calvary Methodist Church where service will be conducted by the Rev. R. Carl Maxwell, the Rev. Harvey Ashby and the Rev. W. W. Crady. Interment will be in the church cemetery.Waynesboro News Virginian, May 20, 1953
