NEW HAVEN — Hancer D. Laferty Sr., 90, of New Haven, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Ohio Health Medcentral Hospital, Mansfield. He was born May 13, 1926 in Hippo, Ky to the late Lonnie and Poppie (Shepperd) Laferty. Mr. Laferty was a Navy Veteran of WW II and was a supervisor for Plymouth Locomotive. He was in a CB club many years ago and enjoyed being outdoors which included ride mowing his yard, camping and spending time with his family. In his later years he truly enjoyed his companionship with his cat: Half Pint. Mr. Laferty was married to Dorothy (Rice) Laferty who preceded him in death in 1986 then married Jeanne Mohler who preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Laferty is survived by 3 daughters: Sheri (Larry) Bailey of New Washington, Sandy (Terry) Feltner of Willard and Pam (lacy) Shepherd of Nova. 2 sons: Hancer D. Laferty Jr, of New Haven and Gary (fiancé Rebecca Stockmaster) Laferty of Willard. 26 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. 6 sisters: Ossie, Linda, Barb, Effie, Josie and Marie, and 3 brothers: Art, Josh and Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, 2 daughters: Cookie Laferty and Sue Wells, daughter-in-law: Laura “Babe” Laferty, 2 grandsons, 2 brothers: Curtis and Ottis and 2 sisters: Tincy and Sara. Friends may call Friday, June 24, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Lindsey-Kocher Funeral Service, 323 Myrtle Ave, Willard, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas Lang officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.Endnotes
