Death
Mary Ellen Byrd, 93, of West Lafayette, died at 5:50 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Rosewalk Village. She was born on Jan. 4, 1918 in Raccoon to the late Grover and Olevia Hicks Gerald. On Oct. 11, 1948, she married Charles E. Byrd. He died March 21, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Mason; 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Surviving are three daughters, Brenda McElhinney of Romney, Marianna Renick (husband: Bert) of Crawfordsville, and Bonnie Misner (husband: Stephen) of West Lafayette; a son, John Byrd (wife: Lisa) of Danville, Iowa; a sister, Betty Gardener of Pocahontas, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.Endnotes
