Notes
Death
Alice Lake Milne, 98, a retired school teacher who taught kindergarten for 28 years, died of natural causes August 12, 2006 at home in Blacksburg, VA. Before moving in 2002 from Goodwin House in Alexandria, VA to Blacksburg to live with a daughter, she had lived in Northern Virginia for 52 years. Mrs. Milne was born in Warren, Rhode Island. After graduating from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA, she married Edward J. Milne. It was his assignment as Washington Correspondent for the Providence Journal and Evening Bulletin that necessitated the Milne family's move from West Barrington, RI to Arlington, VA in 1950. Mrs. Milne was actively involved with the Episcopal Church: St. Mark's in Warren, St. Matthew's in West Barrington, St. Michael's in Arlington, and Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria. A Memorial Service will be held at the latter church on Saturday, September 9, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Organ Fund at Resurrection Church. The church address is 2280 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA. 22311. Survivors include four children, Meredith Roos of Cincinnati, OH, Andrea Delkeskamp of Brea, CA, Stephen Milne of Falls Church, VA and Judith Furr of Blacksburg, VA; two sisters; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.The Washington Post, September 3, 2006
