An obituary published in the Herald and Review for Mrs. Charles [Velma Lois Carey] Gaston, 86, of Shelbyville, states she had died January 28, 1994. Surviving were her sons, Charles E. Jr., Pflugerville, Texas; David, Gerald and Darrell, all of Shelbyville; daughters, Betty Gouty, West Springfield, Mass., Bonnie Munson, Tower Hill; Patricia Bird and Ella Mae Adams, both of Cowden; Peggy Hakenjos, Escanaba, Mich.; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two grandchildren.Endnotes
