Death
Doris E. (Gross) Livingston, 82, entered into God's eternal care at 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at York Hospital. She was the wife of Donald R. "Pete" Livingston who died October 21, 2001. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove with her pastor, the Rev. Thomas D. Bellis officiating. Viewings will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Paradise (Holtzschwamm) Union Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Livingston was born March 23, 1922, in Adams County. She was a daughter of the late John D. & Emma K. (Kraft) Gross. She retired in 1988 from Pillowtex Inc. in Hanover after 20 years of service, and was a member of Paradise (Holtzschwamm) United Church of Christ in Thomasville, and the Early American Steam Engine & Old Equipment Society in Windsor. Mrs. Livingston leaves three sons, Donald R. Livingston, Jr. and wife Kathy of Thomasville, Gerald E. Livingston of New Oxford, and Jeffrey M. Livingston and wife Helen of Thomasville; two daughters, Faye I. Furr and husband Robert, Jr. of Hanover and Thelma J. Maughlin and husband William of York; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin I. Gross of Spring Grove; two sisters, Betty J. Senft of York and Emma C. Cox of Dedham, Maine. She was preceded in death by a son, Barry L. Livingston, two brothers, John Leese and Mervin Gross, and a sister, Gladys Warner.
