Death
Betty Jean Thurmond Hardee, 72, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006. She was born on February 28, 1933 in Atlanta, GA to the late Lavon and Ruby Barlow Thurmond. Jean was raised in Atlanta and attended the Toccoa Falls Bible College. She had lived in Jacksonville since 1954. She was owner of several businesses, Southside Sitting Services, most recently A Happy Marriage Performed for the last 25 years. She was also an ordained minister and Notary Public. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by 5 children, son, Carey Edward Chandler, and daughters, Lavonda Conners, Letricia Hardee Stroup and her husband Paul Stroup, Lenea Hardee Marshall, and her husband John Marshall, and Loree Hardee Furr. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Morrison Pierce, Kevin Furr, Courtney Conners, Matthew Stroup, and Eian Stroup. She is also survived by great-grandchild, Erol Pierce, sister, Joyce Fries, and husband Dick Fries, and nieces, Janet Mahoney and Sandra Carr; nephew, Richard Fries Jr. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM in George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home 4140 University Boulevard, South, Jacksonville, FL 32216, where the family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at the funeral home.Published in the Florida Times-Union from 1/14/2006 - 1/15/2006.
