Death
MILFORD - Gladys Evelyn Stinson, 94, went to join her husband on September 20, 2020. She was born July 28, 1926, in Kingman, Indiana a daughter of Russell and Bernice (Furr) Dotson. She grew up a city girl working in a theater and then as an operator for Bell Telephone. All that changed in 1949 when she met a handsome young bush pilot from Maine at a friend's wedding. They corresponded for a year and then mom moved to Maine to marry her handsome pilot. They were married in 1950 and enjoyed almost 68 years together. Although she left the city, she still got excited every Memorial Day weekend for the Indy 500 and to hear Jim Nabors sing "Back Home In Indiana". Mom loved gardening, quilting, painting, and feeding the bir. She was very proud of having volunteered in the records department of Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln for twenty years. She held the ladies she worked with there very close to her heart. She also loved her church family at Lincoln First United Methodist Church. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Karen Richard, her daughter and son Diana and Duane Lugdon all of Bradley, and a son Andrew of Bangor. She also leaves a brother Jerry of Indiana, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew, a sister Sara, and a son-in-law Jack. Due to the current COVID pandemic, graveside services will be private. Anyone who wishes may donate in her memory to Shriner's hospital, St. Jude hospital, the American Diabetes Foundation, or a charity of your choice.Endnotes
