Death
Charles Herbert Skiles Jr., 88, of Hampstead, passed away on July 29, 2021 at his home. Born March 27, 1933 in Paducah, KY, he was the son of the late Charles and Sammie (Gilmore) Skiles. He was a very loving and devoted husband to the late Shirley Ann (Gwaltney) Skiles. For over 50 years, Charles worked in the security industry and for the last 25 years owned and operated his own company, Ram's Security. Charles was an avid guitar player, playing in his band, The Charlton's, since he was 18 years old. A man of deep faith, he was heavily involved at his church as a Free Methodist. He was also a Chaplin for the Hampstead School Residents. Charles was a loving husband, father, grand, great-grand & great-great grandfather. He loved spending as much time as he could with his beloved wife, Shirley, and family at family gatherings. Surviving are his six children, Karen A. Evans (Glen) of Bel Air, MD, Susan D. Skiles (James) of Manchester, MD, Dawn D. Chaillou (William) of Bel Air, MD, Shirley L. King (Leonard) of Womelsdorf, PA, Charles H. Skiles, III (Katherine) of Abingdon, MD and Amy B. Furr (Karl) of Hanover, PA. Charles is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Connor and Linda Wolden. His legacy continues through 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Charles is predeceased by siblings, Betty Swan, William Skiles, Robert Skiles and Roy Skiles. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, 6-8 pm at Eline FunerL Home, Hampstead, MD. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, 11:00 am at the Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St. Hampstead, MD, with Pastor Jason Chaillou officiating.
