Veedersburg - Ross Edward “Ed” Pass, 82, of rural Veedersburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.Ed, as he was known to family and friends, was born near Fair Oaks in Jasper County, Indiana on September 6, 1939. He was the son of the late Ralph Leslie and Gertrude (Dirst) Pass. Ed was raised in Fair Oaks and Rensselaer and attended Rensselaer School. Ed was a self-made man and cowboy. He was known for his ability to raise and breed horses. He later moved to Morocco where he farmed and continue to raise and breed appalossa and quarter horses. He later moved to Michigan and continued raising and breeding thoroughbred horses. He later moved back to Indiana to be near family. He moved to Kingman and later to Hillsboro. He more recently resided in rural Veedersburg since 2013. Ed enjoyed tinkering around with tractors and could fix anything that needed attended to. While living in Jasper County he was a member of he Jasper County Sheriff’s Posse. He also enjoyed going to the Highway 341 Restaurant and dancing with his wife. Ed was first married to Sandra Kessler. He married Janice Furr on June 11, 2014 in Crawfordsville. Ed leaves behind his wife, Janice of 7 years. He is survived by a daughter, Crystal (Michael Phelps) Pass-Chapple, Hillsboro and a son, Terry (Debra) Pass, Morocco; two step daughters, Janet (Mike) McMurtrey, Crawfordsville and Taffie (Steve) Beisecker, Oregon; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry Pass, Lafayette and a sister, Betty Pass, Rensselaer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ivy Bulington and three brothers, Delos Fletcher, Gerald Leslie and Curtis Lee Pass. A gathering for family and friends will be held in the Spirit of Life Ministries, 305 W. State St., Kingman, IN on Saturday, February 19, beginning with a lunch at 12:00 p.m. and sharing stories and memories until 3;00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
