Death
BUCKHANNON — Allan H. Evans, age 80, of Weston, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born on June 8, 1935, in Gilmer County, a son of the late Walter and Hazel Ruth Furr Evans. He was united in marriage on August 11, 1961, to Kathryn Stalnaker Evans, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mark Evans and wife Kim and Andy Evans and wife Michelle, both of Weston; two daughters, Pam and husband Ron DuKate of Ravenswood and Denise (Dee) Evans of Weston; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joe Evans and wife June of Glenville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Evans and two infant sisters. Mr. Evans was retired with 25 years of service with Consolidated Gas Company. He was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent as well as on many other boards and committees. He was also a member of the Lewis-Upshur Gideons and the Weston Masonic Lodge 10, A.F. &A.M. He served on many different boards in the community, was past director of Our Neighbor, past president of the Lewis County Senior Citizens Board, and was a former Weston City Councilman. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 2-8 p.m. at the Broad Street United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state at the Broad Street United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 9, 2016, from noon-1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Richard Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Machpelah Cemetery in Weston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Broad Street United Methodist Church, 210 Broad Street, Weston, WV 26452.
