Death
MEDINA: Bureda (Greathouse) Hicks, age 97, the mother of 16 children, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Medina Meadows Nursing Home in Medina, Ohio. Bureda was born on August 22, 1918 in Floyd County, Kentucky. She was born to the late Jim and Sally (DeRossett) Bentley. Her living children are Archie Greathouse, Jr. of Medina, Ohio, Jimmy Greathouse of Mansfield, Ohio, Richard Greathouse of Wellington, Ohio, Forrest Dean Greathouse, Eddie Greathouse of Lakewood, Ohio, Jerome Greathouse of Prestonburg, Kentucky, Barbara Furr of Greenwich, Ohio, Gertrude Elliott of Plymouth, Ohio, Sally Joe Edwards of Willard, Ohio; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands, Archie Greathouse, Sr. of Plymouth, Ohio to whom she had 16 children; Able Tuttle of Plymouth, Ohio; and Monroe Hicks of Plymouth, Ohio. She is also preceded in death by her children, Clarence Greathouse, Beatrice Thornsberry, Johnny Greathouse, Tommy Greathouse, Debra Cooper, Joseph Greathouse, and Bobby Greathouse. Mom Hicks was a loving grandmother of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church in Plymouth, Ohio. Visitation will be at Secor Funeral Home in Plymouth, Ohio on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Buddy Carty officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Rebecca Old Regular Baptist Church.Published in the News Journal on Dec. 1, 2015
