Death
WAPPINGERS FALLS - Carol J. Palazzo Furr, 63, of Wappingers Falls passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a long illness. Born on Dec. 24, 1946 in Beacon, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Palazzo. She graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1964 and went on to graduate as an RN from the Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing. Carol was married to Richard Furr. She had two sons, Robert and Patrick Furr, both of which have predeceased her. In her career as a Registered Nurse, Carol offered dedicated and compassionate care for her patients wherever her Military family life led her. Her greatest joy was in the care of expectant/new mothers and the delivery of their infants. Carol went on to act as a docent at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. She was passionate about gaining and sharing knowledge. Carol is survived by two grandsons, Tatem and Allan Furr; three sisters, Lois Silvestri (Khloie) of Hughsonville; Mary Palazzo (meedoo) of Laguna Hills, CA and Susan Harris of Wappingers Falls. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. She was also predeceased by a brother, Francis (Bob) Palazzo. A Christian Celebration of Carol's life and passing will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wappingers Falls at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. All are invited to share this time with her family. Special thanks is offered to the health care professionals who showed incredible kindness and compassion in the care and comforting of Carol and her family.
