Death
Melvin J. Magaha, 93, of Ranson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Willow Tree Manor, Charles Town. Born May 25, 1919, in Berryville, Va., he was the son of the late Thomas H. Magaha and Nellie (Marcus) Magaha. Mr. Magaha was a self-employed farmer and worked on the Lyle Tabb Farm. He attended the Family Worship Center, Inwood. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Frances Furr and husband, Herb, of Ranson; son, James "Jimmy" G. Magaha and wife, Julie, of Grantsville, Md.; six grandchildren, Gregory Furr, Rick Furr, Chris Magaha, Anne Marie Miller, Jennifer Magaha Rogers and Kimberly Canby; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia B. Magaha; brother, Roy Magaha and wife, Frances, of Charles Town; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 and a half years, Adelaide Glenn (Anders) Magaha, who died on June 7, 1991; sister, Virginia H. Braithwaite; four brothers, Charles Magaha, Thomas L. Magaha, Wilson Magaha and Archie Magaha. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, with the Rev. John Faircloth officiating. Interment at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
