Death
David L. Bailey, 81, of Cutler, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2012. He was born April 13, 1931 in Belpre, and was the son of the late Val Dwight and Hazel Jones Bailey. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, the Ohio Gun Collectors Association and was a member of the Hocking Valley Sportsman Club and the American Truck Historical Society. He was an independent truck driver and spent most of his life making long distance hauls. He had worked for Doe Miller Produce and Kaiser Aluminum. In later years, he was licensed by the U.S.D.A. to administer drug and alcohol testing for the trucking companies. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Bob Furr of Belpre; son and daughter-in-law, B.J. and Jackie Cassady of Belpre; sister, Dorothy Hughes of Belpre; grandchildren, Cristal Bailey Snider and Jeff Bailey of Sebring, Fla., Stephanie Cassady of Vienna and Joe Cassady of Belpre; three great-grandchildren of Sebring, Fla.; and nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis M. Bailey; son, David L. Bailey Jr.; brother, Randall R. Bailey; sister, Rosalee Bailey Rogers; and an infant brother. Services will be on Monday at 11 a.m., at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Rev. Tim Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. The family suggests that donations be made to the Humane Society or the charity of your choice.Endnotes
