STAUNTON -- Josephine (Wiseman) Furr, 71, wife of Raymond E. Furr, formerly of Briarwood Apts., died at 2:02 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 22, 2001) in the King's Daughters' Community Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 17, 1930, in Augusta County, a daughter of Charles Henry and Mary (Tinsley) Wiseman. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. She was a member of Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lynwood L. Spitzer, on Aug. 20, 1974; by three brothers, L. Houston Wiseman C. Kenneth Wiseman and Oscar Wiseman; and three sisters, A. Catherine Lawhorn, Vergie M. Baugh and Ruby H. Rankin. Survivors include husband, of Waynesboro; a son Kenneth Ray Furr of Waynesboro; a daughter, Teresa Bottonfield of Churchville; two godchildren, Ronald Long Jr. and Cynthia Long, both of Churchville; a granddaughter, Robyn Cassie Furr; and nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery by the Rev. William Strickler.
