Death
Charlene Ann (Fisher) Barr was born June 10, 1929 in Brazil, Indiana where she spent her growing-up years. Much of her life centered around the farm and the church, Union EUB, where she faithfully attended with her dear cousins and many other family members. That is where she met Tom Barr, and they were married in that same church on September 3, 1950. Charlene graduated from Brazil High School, attended Indiana Central College, and received a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Indiana State University. She served in many ways in Montezuma, Indiana: as a 4-H leader, substitute teacher, and in many leadership capacities at Montezuma Presbyterian Church. She was a fun, delightful grandma to her five grandchildren: Justin (Amanda) Furr, Tyler (Brian) Johnston, Ryan (Carrie) Furr, Lindsay (Greg) Conner, and Nathan (Abby) Furr. And in later years she found great joy in meeting her great-grandchildren: Thomas, Deacon, Evan, Bowen, Judson, William, Maxwell, Nash, Josephine, and Graham Furr, and Zoey Barr Conner. Charlene and Tom spent many winter seasons in their Florida community, moved back to Brazil for a time, then settled in Jeffersonville, Indiana, making treasured friends along the way. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, in 2015. She is survived by her three daughters: Karen Phillips, Elaine Whitman, Carla (Pete) Warren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one brother, John (Bette) Fisher, and many nieces and nephews. She died peacefully on December 22, 2022. A private family service is being planned. Gifts in memory can be sent to: Union United Methodist Church, 780 E County Road, 600 N., Brazil, IN 47834Endnotes
